Az elhízás és a 2-es típusú cukorbetegség a XXI. század legnagyobb egészségügyi kihívásai közé tartoznak, kezelésük népegészségügyi megoldást igényel. A szív-érrendszeri- és a vesebetegség jelentik az elhízásban és a cukorbetegségben a leggyakoribb szövődményeket és halálokot.
A 2-es típusú cukorbetegség a koszorúérbetegség és stroke előfordulási gyakoriságát 2-4-szeresére, a szívelégtelenség előfordulási esélyét 2-6-szorosára emeli. A diabétesz az idült vesebetegség (CKD) kialakulásában is jelentős szerepet játszik – az összes CKD-s eset több mint 50% százalékáért felelős.
Az idült vesebetegség ma mintegy másfél millió embert érint hazánkban.
A civilizációs betegségnek számító állapot kialakulásához az egészségtelen táplálkozás és a mozgásszegény életmód nagyban hozzájárul. A betegség megfelelő kontrollját gátolhatja a betegoktatás nehézsége, a diéta sikertelensége, a nem kellő időben történő terápiakezdés, valamint a legmodernebb kezelési lehetőségekhez való elégtelen hozzáférés.
A Magyar Diabetes Társaság és a Magyar Obezitológiai és Mozgásterápiás Társaság célja, hogy az egészségügyi ellátásban résztvevők, az ellátást finanszírozó és döntéshozó kormányzati szervek és végül, de nem utolsó sorban az érintetteket képviselő betegszervezetek közötti aktív kommunikációnak és együttműködésnek teret biztosítson. Többek között ezért is egyeztetnek az egészségügyi szereplők, a kormányzat képviselői, szakmai és civil szervezetek, valamint ipari partnereik által szervezett

62 éves nő. AML miatt allogén őssejt transzplantáción átesett beteg. IS mellett fokozatosan romló vesefunkció.
44 éves nő. Anamnézisében systema lupus erythematosus, antiphospholipid antitest syndroma. AV-i ganraena miatti b.o. cruralis és j.o. II lábujj amputatiot követően kialakult akut vesekárodás.
