Ennek oka, hogy az Európai Hypertonia Társaság 2013-as hypertonia ajánlásában a szubklinikus célszerv-károsodások kimutatását célzó vizsgálatok között ismét javasolja az aorta pulzushullám terjedési sebességének mérését is. A dokumentum az emelkedett artériás stiffness paraméterekkel rendelkező pácienseket a magas, illetve a nagyon magas rizikójú csoportba sorolja. Az artériás funkció, a centrális vérnyomás vizsgálata a modern kardiovaszkuláris diagnosztikában fontos helyet kapott és immáron az evidencia bázisú tudományos ismereteket szintetizáló ajánlásokban is megjelent.
