Magyar Hypertonia Társaság Hypertension and the Kidney. Joint conference with Renal Association and British Hypertension Society Rendezvény vége: 2006.11.28. Since then the role of the kidney in salt and water homeostasis and the renin angiotensin system have underscored the organ’s importance in control of blood pressure. Many of the inherited mechanisms identified in rare familial forms of hypertension affect salt handling in the nephron. In addition blood pressure reduction has been shown to be important in prevention of kidney damage. Recent advances in this area make this meeting, intended for cardiovascular and renal physicians very timely. We hope that established specialists and trainees will actively participate in this programme.
